Reading at Home

Hello

I am Sharanya Yadav. I'm reader and poet. My favorite genres are murder mystery + thriller + fantasy. I love books, which you would have already guessed from the blog. My other hobbies include poetry and essay writing.

My Story

When I was 8, I used to love reading comics and simple story books and then slowly the love grew a little when my mom bought me a set of 20 junior classics books. Soon, I wanted more so I convinced my mother to buy me some books from my favorite bookstore when we reached there I looked around because I didn't actually have a specific book taste by then, so when I saw Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis Book set of 7 books, I thought to pick it up as I had seen the first movie and loved it and then my eyes fell on one of the best books of all time - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, when I picked that up I had a moment of internal crisis that - would I be able to read and it looked huge compared to Chronicles of Narnia and the other books I read, plus I had already watched the movie {and loved it} so I thought what if I found the book tedious. In the end, I decided to buy it anyways.

Then, I came back home and read Chronicles of Narnia and absolutely loved it, 5 stars series. And then in the moment of truth, I picked up Harry Potter one of the most sold books in the history of Literature. I started reading it and the next thing I knew, I was in love. When I finally finished it, I remember telling my mom to order the rest 6 books because I really wanted to read all of Harry's story. The Harry Potter series is one of those books I remember staying up late at night to finish reading.

Next time, we went book buying, and the book seller recommended a book named Nancy, Drew a mystery book, I thought why not, little did I know it would define my whole reading taste. After that book, I fell in love with mystery and I still am!

Then I choose to read books about my Hindu heritage and culture which I also loved. Then I read a lot more.

After that one day, I refused to give water to an old lady and she turned out to be a witch. Out of anger, she

cursed me that I won't be able to read books anymore, so I never did. Just kidding, it was my 5th class finals, and I had to stop reading to study! But, after that when I tried to read again - to my shock, I couldn't. I HAD FALLEN INTO A READING SLUMP!!!!!!! Oh, the horror! I call it The great slump of 2020, I thought Covid was bad But the Slump was worse! It lasted from the end of January to the beginning of December...I know what you are thinking Horrible, Terrifying, Awful, Pitiful...I know!!

Then my savior came on horse, not really It was my mom with her Phone. She knew my love for a murder

mystery and thriller and convinced me to read The Queen of Crime. Whom I Fell for - very very Hard. After that, I may or may not have given my savior a headache for More Agatha Christie Books. Then I fell out of the reading slump. Yay! Then I also fell in love with fantasy books because of Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter books - Mortal Instruments + Infernal Devices + Dark Artifices + 2 Last Hour Books.

Next, I also found some all-time favorite book series which are = The Hunger Games + A Good Girl's Guide to Murder + Truly Devious.

After which I did my first 12-hour readathon in which I read 10 short books. Then I also did a 24 hr readathon in which I also read 10 books but all of which are 200+ pages.

Then after this, my next accomplishment would be reading more than 300 books, which is still unbelievable to me. Also, another thing that is sort of unrelated but I also wrote my 50th poem.

And because of my love for books, I started this blog

To share my love of books with you all!
