Book Recommendation Tag

Initially started by Steph Bohrer on youtube, and I thought this was the best way to recommend book. I have also added 5 questions from Larry reads channel. So without any further waiting, the questions...

1. a book you tell people is your favorite

- Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. One of my top reads of all time. When railroad gets blocked due to heavy snow and all the passengers are snowed. A murder occurs, so Poirot has to find out who the killer is before another murder takes place.

This is one of the best murder mysteries I have ever read. I was shocked at the ending. Well done Christie.

2. a book that is your guilty pleasure

- The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I know this is not exactly accurate to Greek mythology and that's the main criticism but I love it despite that. I was honestly not expecting a lot. I was thinking that I did not love the characters but in the end, I realized that I had grown to love them without even realizing it. It is a beautiful example of writing by Madeline Miller.

3. a book everyone loved but you didn’t

- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The first book I read by T.J.R. was Daisy Jones and the Six, so my expectations from this book were very high. Sadly, I was disappointed by this book. The Hollywood backdrop didn't work for me. But despite this book not being my favourite book, I will appreciate the way it is written. There was only one character I truly loved and that was Henry. Even though this book isn't my favourite, I still recommend this book to other people.

4. a book you read the fastest

- Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson. Just because I read it fast doesn't mean I loved it. I hated this book which is awful because the books before were all my favourite. This book annoyed me to all ends. The only reason I read this was I wanted it to get over, so that I just know what happened and then I could wait a year for a better sequel.

5. a book that deserves more hype

-The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Even though it has a lot of hype, I think it deserves more. It has an amazing story and vivid imagery. Great characters and great growth arcs. It is one of those books which has different plot lines which all interconnect at the end. Read my full review-

6. a book you have read over and over again

- Once upon a Thriller by Carolyn Keene. I have read this 4 times. For some reason, this book just radiates me comfort. Though sometimes mysteries lose their charm after reading the book for the first time, this one hasn't. It's almost like every time I read this book it gets better. The basic premise is that Nancy and her best friends Bess and George are one vacation by a beachside place, and Nancy just wants to curl up with a good book. But when they reach to the best bookshop of the town, they find it burnt, was is an accident or someone taking revenge, it's up to Nancy Drew to figure it out.

7. a book that you reread the most

- Once upon a Thriller by Carolyn Keene. I have read this 4 times. For some reason, this book just radiates me comfort. Though sometimes mysteries lose their charm after reading the book for the first time, this one hasn't. It's almost like every time I read this book it gets better. The basic premise is that Nancy and her best friends Bess and George are on vacation by a beachside place, and Nancy just wants to curl up with a good book. But when they reach the best bookshop in town, they find it burnt, was it an accident or someone taking revenge, it's up to Nancy Drew to figure it out.

8. a book from a genre you don’t typically read

- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This book creates its genre. It's a fictional book with a little fantasy and the themes of self-help and spirituality. One of the best books I've ever read. Read my full review-

9. a book that deserves all the hype it gets

- Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I love this book and everything it stands for. It has also been turned into a show. Once all the episodes are out I might write a show review. Read my review-

10. a book you usually recommend when asked to give a recommendation

- Before the Coffee gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. This is one of the best books ever written. It is unique and interesting. It uses the theme of time - travel but refurnishes it so that it feels new. Read my Review-

11. a book that has your favorite characters

- This is an unfair question and that's why I'll name multiple series because I am very indecisive - Harry Potter series, The Hunger Games series, The Shadowhunter Chronicles, The Chronicles of Narnia, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Caraval series, The Night Circus, The Starless Sea, Truly Devious series, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, Sands of Arawiya duology, Folk of the Air series and Serpent and Dove series. There you go all 13 of them.

12. a book you wish you could live in

- The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. This is my dream world. A place where they love books, full of fun and adventure. A place where everything is a story, the books, the walls, the statues, and even the people there. One of the best books I've ever read.

13. a book you thought you would hate but ended up loving

- Folk of the Air series by Holly Black. I had very negative reviews about this book and even had been spoiled for some minor details but I still ended up loving it. I binge-read this series in 7hrs. I just loved this world and some characters and hated the characters(in a good way that doesn't make me want to stop reading). The political drama was amazingly written. Read my Review-

14. a book that made you cry

- Once again this question is not fair, so I'm just going to list all of them - Clockwork Princess, Before the Coffee gets Cold, Babel, and Daisy Jones and the Six. That's all four of them.

15. a book you wish you could read for the first time

- A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series by Holly Jackson. This is one of my favorite series. It is well-written and has a greatly planned murder mystery. The characters are realistic and don't feel one-dimensional. Read my Review-

16. a book that could cure a reading slump

- And then there were none by Agatha Christie. This book can and did cure a reading slump. This book cured a year-long reading slump. I read this book in 2 days. I think this book originates the idea and theme of a bunch of people stuck together and then all of them start dying one by one.

17. a book you think everyone needs to read

- Once again - Before the Coffee gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. This is one of the best books ever written. It is unique and interesting. It uses the theme of time - travel but refurnishes it so that it feels new. Read my Review:-

18. a book you think would make an amazing movie

- Babel by R.F. Kuang. Listen, even though everyone prefers having a show for their favorite books, I think it would do great in a movie format. As in the starting 3 parts, there is not much action and everything just kickstarts in the 4th part. But I will say I this to be one of those long 3hrs(almost edging on 4) movies. Because if they did that, I can assure you this movie might just be Oscar Material

19. a book you wish everyone would give a shot even if it’s out of their comfort zone

- Once Again -The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This book creates its genre. It's a fictional book with a little fantasy and the themes of self-help and spirituality. One of the best books I've ever read. Read my full review-

20. a book you’ll never forget

- The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. I will never forget this book. This book sometimes just randomly pops into my head once a week. I'm still baffled at the ending of this book. Just read it.

Till the next

Happy Reading
